Cabbage and Ground Beef Skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 small green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 can (15 oz / 425 g) diced tomatoes, with juice
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional, for richer flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces. Drain excess fat if needed.
  5. Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  6. Add the diced tomatoes and Worcestershire sauce, then mix well.
  7. Add the chopped cabbage a handful at a time, stirring until it begins to wilt.
  8. Cover and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
  9. Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
