Crochet Christmas Spiral Star Ornament — Full Pattern
This pattern recreates the hanging Christmas decoration shown in the photo, including the six-point star, snowflake, spiral Christmas tree, scalloped base, holly leaves, berries, gold bead, and jingle bell.

1. Six-Point Star
Use the main color.
Round 1: Make a magic ring. Work 12 SC into the ring. SL ST to the first SC. (12)
Round 2: CH 3, work 2 DC in the same stitch, CH 2, skip the next stitch. Repeat around to create 6 chain spaces. SL ST to the beginning.
Round 3: Into each chain space, work:
SC, HDC, 3 DC, HDC, SC
Repeat for all 6 points.
SL ST between the points.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Gently shape the six points so the star lies flat.
2. Crochet Snowflake
Use white yarn.
Round 1: Make a magic ring and work 6 SC into the ring. SL ST. (6)
Round 2: Work 2 SC in each stitch around. (12)
Snowflake arms:
Repeat 6 times:
SL ST into the next stitch.
CH 5.
SC in the 2nd CH from the hook.
HDC in the next CH.
DC in the next CH.
SL ST in the final CH.
SL ST back into the center.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Sew the snowflake securely onto the center of the star.
3. Long Spiral Christmas Tree
Use the main color.
To create the tapered spiral, crochet one long strip using progressively shorter sections.
CH 75.
Starting in the 2nd CH from the hook, SC across.
Continue with shorter sections:
CH 65, SC across.
CH 55, SC across.
CH 45, SC across.
CH 35, SC across.
CH 25, SC across.
The strip should gradually become narrower toward the top.
Gently coil the strip around an imaginary center line to form the spiral Christmas-tree shape.
Secure the spiral at several points with matching yarn while keeping the spaces between the coils open.
For extra stability, a thin flexible cord can be placed through the center, making sure no sharp wire ends are exposed.
4. Connector Between the Star and Spiral
Use the main color.
CH 8.
SL ST back along the chain.
Fasten off.
Attach one end underneath the star and the other end to the top of the spiral.
Place a small gold bead between the star and spiral if desired.
5. White Scalloped Bottom Cap
Use white or cream yarn.
Round 1: MR, 6 SC. (6)
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around. (12)
Round 3: SC in the next stitch, INC. Repeat around. (18)
Round 4: SC in the next 2 stitches, INC. Repeat around. (24)
Round 5: SC around. (24)
Round 6: SC around. (24)
Round 7: Repeat around:
SL ST, skip 1 stitch, 5 DC in the next stitch, skip 1 stitch.
Join with SL ST.
Fasten off.
Lightly stuff the cap with fiberfill.
Sew the top of the cap to the bottom of the spiral.
6. Holly Leaves
Use green yarn.
Make 3 leaves.
CH 8.
Starting in the 2nd CH from the hook:
SL ST, SC, HDC, DC, TR, DC, HDC.
At the end of the chain, work 3 SC into the last chain.
Continue along the opposite side:
HDC, DC, TR, DC, HDC, SC, SL ST.
Fasten off.
Shape the leaf slightly with your fingers.
Make 3 leaves and sew them onto the white cap.
7. Red Holly Berries
Use red yarn.
Make 3 small berries.
MR.
Work 6 SC into the ring.
SL ST.
Fasten off and pull the center tightly closed.
Add a tiny amount of fiberfill if desired.
Sew the three berries together and attach them between the holly leaves.
8. Bottom Jingle Bell
Attach a small gold jingle bell underneath the white cap.
CH 5 and join with SL ST to form a small loop.
Sew the loop securely to the bottom center of the cap.
Attach the jingle bell so that it hangs freely.
9. Hanging Loop
CH 25.
Join with SL ST to form a loop.
Work SC around the chain once.
Fasten off.
Sew both ends securely to the top point of the star.
Alternatively, attach a metal lobster clasp or keyring.
10. Final Assembly
Attach the hanging loop to the top of the star.
Attach the snowflake to the center of the star.
Connect the star to the spiral using the small crochet connector.
Attach the white scalloped cap to the bottom of the spiral.
Sew the holly leaves and red berries onto the cap.
Attach the gold jingle bell underneath.
Gently adjust the spiral so the coils become progressively wider toward the bottom.
For the closest appearance to the photo, use firm stitches, a slightly smaller hook, and tightly wound spiral sections.
