- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lemon, sliced (for garnish)
For the Honey Butter:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), room temperature
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Salmon:
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
- Brush both sides of the fillets with olive oil.
- In a small bowl, combine the Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture evenly over the salmon fillets.
- Cook the Salmon:
- Pan-Seared Method:
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add a bit more olive oil if needed.
- Once the oil is hot, place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the skillet.
- Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fillets, until the salmon is cooked through and has a golden-brown crust. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
- Oven-Baked Method:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- Make the Honey Butter:
- In a medium bowl, combine the room-temperature butter, honey, Dijon mustard, and Cajun seasoning. Mix well until smooth and well incorporated.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve:
- Once the salmon is cooked, transfer the fillets to serving plates.
- Spoon a generous dollop of honey butter over each fillet.
- Garnish with lemon slices and a sprinkle of chopped parsley if desired.
- Enjoy:
- Serve the Cajun Honey Butter Salmon with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad.
Tips:
- If you prefer a more pronounced honey flavor, you can adjust the amount of honey in the butter mixture.
- For an extra touch, drizzle some of the melted honey butter over the salmon before serving.
- If you’re cooking for a crowd, this recipe can easily be scaled up. Just make sure to adjust cooking times as needed.
