Soft Butter Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm milk
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup melted butter
1 egg
2 tablespoons mayonnaise or yogurt
Extra butter for brushing

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.

Add the egg, melted butter, and mayonnaise or yogurt. Mix until smooth.

Gradually add flour and salt. Stir until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes until soft and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and divide into equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball.

Arrange the dough balls in a greased baking pan. Cover and let rise again for 30 to 40 minutes.

Brush the tops gently with melted butter.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and shiny on top.

Brush with more butter immediately after baking for extra softness and flavor.

Serve warm with butter, jam, or your favorite meal.
