American Meat Pie
Ingredients:
- 500 grams ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, chopped
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 ready-made pie crust or homemade pie crust
- 1 beaten egg (for brushing)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Then add the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook until the vegetables are soft.
- Stir in the flour and cook for an additional minute. Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Cook the mixture until it thickens.
- Stir in the frozen peas and cook for another minute. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Prepare the Pie:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Roll out the pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
- Add the meat and vegetable mixture to the crust.
- Close the Pie:
- Roll out the top crust and place it over the filling, pressing the edges together to seal the pie.
- Make small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top with the beaten egg.
- Bake:
- Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Let the pie cool slightly before serving.
