Golden, Crunchy, Irresistible Snack or Appetizer

Ingredients

Mushrooms

  • 1½ lbs (700 g) fresh mushrooms (button or baby bella work best)
  • Water (for rinsing)
  • Paper towels (to dry well)

Breading Station

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika

Egg Wash

  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk

Crispy Coating

  • 1½ cups breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch 🔥)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional but AMAZING)
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder or cayenne (optional)

For Frying

  • Vegetable oil or canola oil (enough for deep frying)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Mushrooms
    Clean mushrooms gently and pat completely dry.
    Dry mushrooms = extra crispiness.
  2. Set Up Breading Station
  • Bowl 1: Flour + salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika
  • Bowl 2: Eggs + milk, whisked
  • Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs + Parmesan + Italian seasoning + chili powder
  1. Coat the Mushrooms
  • Roll mushrooms in flour (shake off excess)
  • Dip into egg mixture
  • Coat fully in breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently
  1. Heat the Oil
    Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
    Oil should be hot but not smoking.
  2. Fry to Golden Perfection
    Fry mushrooms in batches for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until deep golden brown.
  3. Drain & Rest
    Remove and place on paper towels.
    Sprinkle lightly with salt while hot.
