Ingredients
2 to 3 lbs beef ribs
1 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the ribs
Pat the beef ribs dry with paper towels. Season generously on all sides with salt and black pepper. This helps build flavor right from the start. - Mix the sauce
In a bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Stir well until the sugar is fully dissolved and the sauce is smooth. - Arrange in the slow cooker
Place the seasoned ribs in the slow cooker, stacking them if needed. Pour the prepared barbecue sauce mixture evenly over the ribs, making sure they are well coated. - Slow cook
Cover and cook on LOW for 7 to 8 hours or on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours, until the ribs are very tender and the meat easily pulls away from the bone. - Optional finishing step
For a caramelized, sticky finish, carefully transfer the cooked ribs to a baking sheet lined with foil. Brush with extra barbecue sauce and broil in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning. - Serve
Serve the ribs hot with extra barbecue sauce on the side. These ribs pair perfectly with coleslaw, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, or baked beans.
Tip
For deeper flavor, you can rub the ribs with the dry seasonings and let them rest in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight before cooking.
