INGREDIENTS
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
- Oil for frying (neutral oil)
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add eggs, oil (or butter), vanilla, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour and mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
(You can lightly oil your hands instead of adding extra flour.) - Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide into medium balls (about the size of a small orange).
- Flatten each ball slightly into a thick disc.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat.
- Fry the buns gently, turning often, until golden brown on both sides and cooked through.
(Low heat is important so they stay fluffy inside.) - Remove and drain on paper towels.
