Ingredients
Steaks
500 g ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Onion Gravy
2 tablespoons butter or oil
1 large onion, sliced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into oval patties (about 4–5 steaks).
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4–5 minutes per side until nicely browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter or oil and cook the sliced onions over medium heat until soft and caramelized (about 8–10 minutes).
- Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir well. Cook for 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer until the gravy thickens.
- Return the patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes until fully cooked and tender.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles.
Tip
For extra flavor, add sliced mushrooms to the gravy or a splash of cream at the end for richness.
