Cheesy Beef Biscuit Cups

Ingredients

For the beef filling

500 g ground beef
1 small onion finely chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil

For the biscuit base

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough
or
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup milk
2 tablespoons melted butter

For topping

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Extra dried oregano or Italian seasoning

Instructions

Prepare the beef filling

Heat a skillet over medium heat
Add ground beef and cook until browned
Add onion and cook until soft
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds
Stir in marinara sauce salt pepper paprika oregano and basil
Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until thick
Remove from heat

Prepare the biscuit dough

If using canned dough
Separate biscuits and flatten each one slightly

If making homemade dough
Mix flour baking powder and salt
Add milk and melted butter
Mix until soft dough forms
Divide into equal balls and flatten

Assemble

Preheat oven to 190°C
Grease a baking tray or sheet pan
Place flattened dough pieces on tray
Press a small indentation in the center of each
Spoon beef mixture onto each dough round
Top generously with mozzarella and cheddar
Sprinkle with oregano or Italian seasoning

Bake

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes
Until biscuits are golden and cheese is melted and bubbly

Serve

Let rest for 5 minutes
Serve warm as appetizer snack or main dish
Perfect with salad or dipping sauce
