Big Homemade Soft Bread

Ingredients
4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/4 cups warm water
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
1 tablespoon instant yeast
1 teaspoon salt

Instructions
In a large bowl add the warm water, sugar and yeast. Mix lightly and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy. Add the oil and salt, then gradually add the flour while mixing until a soft dough forms. Transfer the dough to a clean surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth, elastic and slightly tacky but not sticky. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turn it once to coat, cover and let it rise in a warm place for 60 to 90 minutes until doubled in size.

After rising, gently punch down the dough to release air. Shape it into a loaf by flattening it slightly, rolling it tightly and tucking the edges under. Place it into a greased loaf pan. Cover again and let it rise for 30 to 45 minutes until it rises just above the rim of the pan.

Preheat the oven to 190°C. Bake the bread for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown on top and it sounds hollow when tapped. Remove from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Tips for perfect bread
For extra softness, you can replace 2 tablespoons of water with milk. Brushing the top with butter right after baking gives a softer crust. Make sure not to add too much flour while kneading to keep the bread fluffy.

Result
A soft, airy bread with a light crumb and golden crust, perfect for sandwiches, toast or enjoying warm with butter.
