This warm drink is commonly used in many cultures to support the immune system, soothe the throat, and help loosen mucus during colds or seasonal coughs.
Ingredients
- 1 whole garlic bulb
- 1 large lemon
- 2½ cups (600 ml) water
- 1–2 tablespoons honey (optional, for taste)
- Optional add-ins:
- A small piece of fresh ginger
- A pinch of turmeric
Preparation Steps
1. Prepare the Garlic
- Peel the garlic cloves.
- Lightly crush or finely chop them to release their natural compounds.
2. Prepare the Lemon
- Wash the lemon well.
- Slice it in half and squeeze out the juice.
- Keep the lemon peel if you like extra flavor and aroma.
3. Simmer
- Add the garlic, lemon juice, lemon peel (optional), and water to a small pot.
- Bring to a gentle boil.
- Lower the heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
4. Strain & Sweeten
- Strain the liquid into a cup.
- Let it cool slightly.
