Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup sour cream (room temperature)
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans

For the Caramel Praline Glaze:

  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions & Methods

Step 1 – Prepare the Pan

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan (or use non-stick baking spray with flour). Make sure to get into all crevices.

Step 2 – Make the Cake Batter

  1. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes with an electric mixer).
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with sour cream and milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract and fold in chopped pecans.

Step 3 – Bake

  1. Pour batter evenly into prepared Bundt pan.
  2. Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 4 – Make the Caramel Praline Glaze

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Boil for 1–2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Let glaze cool for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened, then pour over cooled cake.

Formation (Presentation)

  • Place the Bundt cake on a decorative cake stand.
  • Drizzle warm caramel glaze over the top, letting it cascade down the sides.
  • Sprinkle a few extra chopped pecans on top for garnish.
  • Serve in thick slices, optionally with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
